Noora :

l paint abstracts quite expressively. I am in love with the freedom it gives me to express what is not even meant to put into words.

Meet the artist

Noora Korpikoski

My story, the short version:

During a painting session l don't think. I think before and l think after. But during I just want to feel and let that feeling guide me. Music is such a huge part of my painting process, so l like to say my mediums are acrylics & melodies. Art enables us to connect in ways that go beyond words. I want to stay connected and l want to share that feeling with the viewer. My aim is to create artworks that are uplifting. To be alive is a wonderful thing, so why not surround ourselves with beauty and passion. For me that means ART.

My story, the longer version:

Hi, my name is Noora and l live in Turku with my family. We are a happy little family of three: me, my husband and our lovely daughter.

But now, let´s scroll back a few decades.
I was born in Helsinki on 7.7.1988.
My first love was music and l was pretty sure l was going to be an artist someday. I could be hours alone in my own room and just sing, write lyrics and plan on choreographies.
But when l got older l was told it would make little to no sense to study arts. So after high school l tried to make sense and went to study Leading & managing services. This rational happiness lasted for a while until l had the opportunity to actually do music.
School rooms changed to a studio in a blink of an eye, and finally l was doing what l thought l was destined to do: sing, compose and write lyrics. I even ended up singing at Flow festifal and Tavastia club. However, the album was never published. I was so pissed off (mostly) to myself, and decided to try the more common and socially acceptable route to life: back to school and get a ”real job”. Eventually things started to look fine and dandy again.
But of course then the unexpected had to happen: l fell head over hills in love with the person l’d least expect, said Thanks & bye to my good job and found myself in The United States. l enjoyed every possible change to see and breathe art there.
From United States our journey continued to the other side of the Atlantic sea, Zurich. I loved Zurich. While living there l was growing two dreams inside of me: first one was my daughter and the second one a dream to do creative work once again. Me and her (still in my belly) were visiting all the beautiful galleries at Zuri and the creative flame grew bigger and bigger just like my belly did.

After joking around how l would just paint sunrises and sunsets when l would be this cute older lady, l got canvas and paints for mother’s day gift. From that moment forward l painted like an addict every time l had the change. I adopted learn by doing mentality (which was already familiar from the studio times), bought the books and studied different techniques etc all by myself. I'm always willing to learn more and develop further.

And for you, dear reader;
With my art l want to engourage people to live a life that is true to themselves. That is what l am trying to do with mine. Through my paintings l aim to bring more creativity and beauty into this world.  l hope these artworks uplift your spirit.
Art truly enchants the places we spend our time in. It’s important.
Art enables us to connect in a way that goes beyond words.
Let’s connect.

Love,
Noora
